GDPR Lawyers in Poland

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has applied since 25 May 2018 and it includes the principles related to collecting, storing and using personal information as well as the liabilities and sanctions for Polish companies that process user data and fail to observe the rules.

The new GDPR regulation concerns entrepreneurs from various business fields, more specifically, all and any business that collects personal data either on a national or international level. The wide applicability range of these rules and the fact that the financial sanctions are significant has determined companies in Poland to seek proper guidance and assistance.

Our team of GDPR lawyers in Poland is here to help you understand how these rules apply in Poland and how your business will need to adjust the data collection policies in order to meet the new provisions.

GDPR introduced in Poland

The new General Data Protection Regulation became applicable in Poland for all entrepreneurs and companies that collect personal data from their clients. Examples include but are not limited to banks, insurance, and financial institutions in general, telecommunications and internet services providers and many other businesses. The GDPR regulations apply irrespective of company type and size and small companies, as well as sole traders that collect personal or sensitive data about their clients, are also targeted.

Legislators in Poland have considered introducing a number of exemptions to the GDPR law in 2018, however, those proposals were in contradiction with the core provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation. While some exemptions for small and medium-sized companies in Poland have continued to be discussed, it is settled: Poland adopted the Personal Data Protection Act of 10 May 2018 and an act of 21 February 2019 adapting some 160 sectoral laws to the GDPR.

Our team of GDPR attorneys in Poland can give you more details about any recent changes as well as the Polish data protection authority and compliance for companies.
